AcActs of Government.

Sirocco has a large number of legislative documents (known as Acts of Government, or simply 'Acts'), that outline the law on a variety of topics, from foreign policy to the suitable preparation of vegetables. While some have been put forward in the utmost seriousness, the nation's laid-back nature has come to the fore in others. Any member of the Government or Opposition can put forward a proposal, but it is entirely up to the Premier whether the proposal becomes an Act or not.

All Acts are listed in a Register of Legislation, and are given codes relating to the date the Act was signed into law by the Premier. Acts can come into force at a time of the Premier's choosing - this is usually within a week, but in the case of emergency legislation, it can come into force within mere hours. However, a strange tradition has emerged where most or all legislation since 2012 or 2013 has come into force at 4am.

Closing the Loopholes

Siroccan legislators cannot hope to ever cover every possibility event or outcome. So in the event where there is no specific Siroccan law addressing a matter, the law of New Zealand applies.
